Job Summary
The Clinical Training Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of a wide range of clinical, regulatory and operational training programs, including orientation and annual competency. This individual will work with numerous internal departments to ensure that cross-functional alignment directs positive outcomes for departmental business and strategic goals. This position requires solid clinical skills and critical thinking and is instrumental in understanding the daily workflow of the various roles within Health Care Services, including utilization management and appeals and grievances to develop workflows, job aids, and policies. This position requires strong technological and presentation skills.Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing
- Develop, implement, and maintain department training and competency plan. - Work in conjunction with team managers and subject matter experts to develop and change plan to meet department needs
- Responsible for new hire orientation training plan(s) and materials which will support and foster ongoing mentorship for new staff to be successful in their roles
- Create and maintain course outlines, objectives, lesson plans, presentation materials, job aides, practice exercises, evaluation tools and competency assessments for modules in the curriculum. Modules include instruction on:
- Basic system navigation for clinical and non-clinical systems
- Utilization management decision making and regulatory adherence for clinicians and non-clinicians
- Regulatory requirements from CMS, the Commonwealth, and NCQA
- Business process workflows in support of departmental or corporate projects
- Deliver VILT training to Health Care Services department personnel providing interactive learning experiences utilizing adult learning techniques and multimedia presentations
- Maintain educational calendar and works with staff preceptors
- Identify and document program scope, timelines, goals, operational and outcome success measures
- Oversee and facilitate clinical in-service opportunities for CEU and CCM credits
Develop, research, and implement evidence-based assessment content
Qualifications – what you need to perform the job
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- Registered Nurse with a valid license required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master’s Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE (minimum years required):
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience
- Knowledge of utilization management and/or appeals and grievances practices highly desirable
- Experience in professional education, staff development, or training environment highly desirable
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to address multiple issues of complexity during workday
- Initiative, sound judgement and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of virtual training development and facilitation tools
- Proficient in Computer Skills (Microsoft Office)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively to develop strong working relationships with internal and external contacts
- Excellent teaching skills in individual and group setting including coaching and motivational interviewing skills
- Strong business writing skills
