Summary

This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorism and Financial Intelligence - Office of Foreign Assets Control. OFAC is responsible for safeguarding the national security of the United States by implementing and enforcing economic and trade sanctions. As a Deputy Assistant Director for Enforcement, you will assist with the management of staff responsible for conducting enforcement investigations and serving as an expert authority on sanctions violations and enforcement matters.

Duties

As a Deputy Assistant Director for Enforcement, you will:

  • Assist the Assistant Director of Enforcement (ADE) in overall management and supervision of the Enforcement division.
  • Assist with the direction of staff responsible for conducting enforcement investigations.
  • Serve as expert technical authority on sanctions violations and enforcement matters and provide inputs and clearance on agency documents.
  • Engage with the public, private sector representatives, and government officials.
  • Develop divisional and agency-wide policies, procedures, and strategies.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes ALL of the following:
  • Coordinating and conducting criminal and/or civil investigations of international commercial and trade transactions to include international trade and finance transactions, export controls or international trade compliance regulations and economic sanctions programs; AND
  • Providing expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to agency management and other senior agents, officers, or inspectors on critical operations, analyzing information from a wide variety of sources, determine priorities, and research precedents; AND
  • Supervision of a staff responsible for investigating and implementing laws related to economic sanctions programs.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
