Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is seeking Systems Engineers to join our team in Huntsville, AL in the Command and Control, Communication and Computer Missile Defense (C4MD) Business Unit in support of our programs. This position may place candidates on various teams within C4MD (programs like IBCS, NAREW, IFC, FAAD C2, and/or IRADs).
As an Engineer Systems, you will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Perform analysis at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Basic Qualifications:
• Engineer Systems: requires 2 years with Bachelor of Science; 0 Years with Masters
• Working knowledge Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• Interest in developing automation processes with tools such as Ansible, Python, etc
• Scripting skills in languages such as Bash or Python
• Experience with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins and version control tools such as Git
• Familiarity with Networking environment (i.e., routers, firewalls, VLANs, etc.)
• Proven ability to comprehend/develop/decompose System Architecture and System Requirements (from System Specifications high-level requirements to the lowest level) in a model-based environment
• Proven ability to understand software systems interface documentation, interconnect diagrams, military standard
• The ability to obtain DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or III certification (i.e., Security+, CASP, CISSP)
• Active Secret clearance to start
Preferred Qualifications:
• Technical experience with IAMD: C2 with understanding of weapons, sensors, distributed computing and these systems' impact on a command-and-control system's architecture, requirements, and interfaces for communications between these systems
• Knowledge, skill sets or experience using protocol analyzers/sniffers (e.g., Wireshark)
• Systems Engineering Experience in an Agile environment
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (Atlassian suite: Jira, Confluence)
• Experience with Requirements Impact Assessments, Change Requests, and Engineering Change Proposals
• Experience with Jira
• Link-16 Experience
• Experience in virtualization technology, including VMware/KVM
• Familiarity with weapon systems and sensors such as: PATRIOT, Sentinel, G/ATOR, etc
Salary Range: $85,400 - $128,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
