Full Job Description
The Casper Star-Tribune is seeking a top editor to lead, inspire and grow local journalism while building a relationship with our readers in the heart of Wyoming.
If you want to plan and strategize content, edit, do your share of reporting, and engage readers across multiple digital platforms and a robust three-day-a-week print edition, let's talk. This is a hands-on job that requires a collaborative spirit and the desire to mentor and develop journalists in a hungry newsroom.
This top editor will also build a local editorial board with community representatives, a role that will include leading a weekly meeting and shaping our voice on key issues in Casper and across the Cowboy State.
We are a digital-first newsroom that prioritizes original and enterprising local reporting, plus a heavy dose of high school and Division I collegiate sports. The Star-Tribune is a regular winner of the Deming Cup, the Wyoming Press Association's award for general excellence, as well as other regional journalism awards. Our tradition is built upon unmatched reporting in a state that feels more like one big community with long roads.
Casper is the middle of it all, centrally located with a population of nearly 60,000 and big-city amenities, a friendly cost of living and a rejuvenated downtown featuring multiple breweries and restaurants. Outdoors enthusiasts will find a new adventure in any direction for hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding and more. Retail shopping includes Sam's Club, Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Kohl's, plus many others. Olive Garden, Texas Roadhouse, Red Lobster and Chili's are among the chain restaurants.
Additionally, Casper is regarded as the state's "meeting place," hosting many high school state tournaments and other events. And, since 1999, Casper has been home to the College National Finals Rodeo.
