Job Summary

The Office of Financial Aid is looking for a Financial Aid Administrator Intermediate who will be a representative to students, parents/supporters, outside agencies, faculty and staff regarding financial aid in general and the application process. The Financial Aid Administrator Intermediate will report to the Assistant Director.

Responsibilities*

  • You will be a representative of the Office of Financial Aid to students, parents/supporters, outside agencies, faculty and staff either through direct contact, emails, phone, text messaging, and at presentations regarding financial aid in general and the application process.
  • You will demonstrate administrative capability as a financial aid administrator by ensuring policies comply with Federal and State regulations.
  • You will maintain a working knowledge of financial aid rules and regulations. Remain current on trends and practices in Higher Education.
  • You will review current literature and attend professional meetings to keep current on Federal, State, and institutional regulations and policy changes.
  • You will help develop and implement financial aid procedures and administrative practices.
  • You will be responsible for program management of Federal, State, and Institutional aid program(s).
  • You will use systems and equipment including: Ellucian (Banner), COD, NSLDS, and general office equipment.
  • You will represent the office at training and conference opportunities when designated as an attendee and presenting at financial aid events.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
  • 1 or more years of financial aid experience or relevant experience in a related field.
  • Must have customer service experience.
  • Ability to use or learn to use federal, state, and institutional systems and equipment including: Ellucian (Banner), COD, NSLDS, and general office equipment.
  • You will be required to demonstrate there are no restrictions that would prevent you from obtaining authorization to NSLDS, COD and other federal financial aid processing sites.

Work Schedule

Hybrid

The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.

Background Screening

The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background checks. Background checks are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
