The Club at Spruce Peak manages two golf courses, The Mountain Course and Stowe Country Club (SCC). The Mountain Course is a Bob Cupp design that sits at the base of Spruce Peak and SCC occupies the former site of a turn of the century dairy farm with rolling terrain perfect for a unique Vermont golf experience. SCC is entering the second year of an extensive two-year renovation led by world-renown golf course architect Beau Welling and his team. An overall master plan has been developed to include the construction of a new residential development and clubhouse along with amenities such as a redesigned practice facility, racquet sports, aquatics. The aim of this plan is to create a mountain-based community that will rival the best in the country. The front nine was completed with overwhelming success in the summer of 2024 and the back nine will undergo renovations this summer. SCC will operate as a 9-hole facility for the 2025 golf season. We are seeking a solid leader with proven management, organizational and administrative experience to be our next Head Golf Professional (HP). The HP will be responsible for selling and promoting the products and services of the golf club in the most professional manner while building upon and improving the strong golf culture and traditions that are already in place. The qualified candidate will have a strong customer service background and be visible, outgoing, and engaged. The membership model at SCC is on a new trajectory of transitioning into a private club and it will be the responsibility of the HP and their staff to ensure all members and guests have an unforgettable golf experience. This is a management level position directly supporting the Director of Golf and can be seasonal or year-round.

Specific Position duties:

  • Be an ambassador of all golf programming and initiatives
  • Promote memberships and cultivate relationships with current members
  • Work cohesively with golf course superintendent
  • Explore and implement new golf programming initiatives
  • Manage and schedule the outside golf service team consisting of 10-15 full and part time employees
  • Manage and schedule the golf shop staff consisting of 3-5 full and part time employees
  • Create clear communication channels to and from all staff
  • Oversee golf shop operations to ensure high service levels and financial success
  • Assist retail manager with buying plan and inventory levels
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of Jonas Club Management is a plus
  • Promote and execute all of our tournaments through the use of Golf Genius
  • Coordinate and run weekly men’s league
  • Work cohesively with Director of Instruction and provide instruction in group and private settings while receiving 90% of lesson income
  • Assist Director of Instruction with practice facility management
  • Seek out relevant continuing education opportunities for staff to participate
  • Foster equipment sales through improved club fitting and sales practices
  • Work with golf shop, starters and rangers to ensure pace of play is satisfactory
  • Playing with members and in VT PGA events is encouraged
  • Treat all customers, vendors, and fellow staff in a professional manner
  • Maintain an up to date working knowledge of all on campus amenities as well as any special events
  • Assist in hiring staff and be responsible for employee onboarding

General Club Team Member Requirements:

Specific Head Golf Professional:

  • PGA member with 3+ years working in a club environment
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of Jonas Club Management is a plus
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and associates
  • Willing and able to work most weekend and holiday periods
