Summary

King County's Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Section have a great opportunity available for an experienced and technically proficient Industrial Maintenance Program Specialists (IMPS). 

About the Role:
Industrial Maintenance Program Specialist are the heart of the planned maintenance and repair process for King County Wastewater Treatment Division (KC WTD).  In this role you will coordinate weekly work schedules with multiple crafts to accomplish the repair/maintenance/restoration of equipment and systems that treat wastewater.  This role includes daily review of new work orders for prioritization, review of existing work in progress and backlog review to coordinate older work orders with current equipment/system outages to maximize maintenance reliability in addition to planning scheduled outages and coordinating outside vendor services as needed. The person in this role will be a part of a team that helps preserve the beauty and health of the Puget Sound region, while working and collaborating amongst other creative and supportive Reliability Engineering Teams.

This position performs work remotely and onsite.

Job Duties

What You Will Be Doing: 

  • Assist in the development and planning of a comprehensive predictive and preventative maintenance program for the assigned treatment plant and associated facilities. Implement and administer program requirements including policies and procedures. Work with section management and plant supervisory staff in determining work priorities and business needs during work order schedule implementation to ensure that the plant operations is in compliance with regulatory requirements on a daily basis.
  • Plan, schedule, and determine (annual, monthly, weekly, and/or daily) work order assignments using automated maintenance information reporting systems; Analyze and evaluate work orders and prepare work order scope, parts, materials, labor, and supply requirements; Coordinate material requirements with stores for job initiation; Ensure that work order documentation accurately reflects the work performed by staff.
  • Oversee and evaluate maintenance backlogs and determine if scheduling changes are needed based on the plant's business needs; Determine backlog work priorities; Communicate and coordinate work orders and order changes with maintenance and operations supervisory staff on a regular and continual basis.
  • Use the automated maintenance information reporting system to provide regular reports to section management and other supervisory and maintenance staff. Analyze and evaluate time, labor and material costs and work with section management and other supervisory and maintenance staff in determining methods to improve work production and life expectancy of equipment.
  • Identify and determine maintenance work that will be performed by external vendors or contractors and coordinate this work with plant operations and maintenance staff.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate regular maintenance planning and scheduling meetings to monitor work progress and to adjust plans and schedules.
  • Participate in the annual budget process by estimating the costs of materials, parts and labor that is needed to perform predictive and preventative maintenance work.
  • Identify and coordinate with engineering staff the development and preparation of life cycle analysis reports for plant equipment and supporting systems.
  • Participate and/or develop and implement policies and procedures associated with predictive and preventative maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Perform Electrical & Mechanical job planning and work scoping including repair parts review and work packaging organization.
  • Perform asset validation utilizing the mobile electronic database update program (Survey 123/Pink App).

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Qualifications You Bring:

  • Knowledge of skilled trades and demonstrated experience as a journey level worker or knowledge of multi-trade scope-of-work and experience working in the Industrial Maintenance Program.
  • Advanced knowledge of maintenance techniques and principles in an industrial environment and demonstrated skill in applying these principles.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated skill in understanding the labor, materials, costs, and skill requirements for maintenance work orders performed by skilled trades classifications. 
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with predictive methods such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, and ultrasound
  • Demonstrated experience in applying troubleshooting and analytical skills in evaluating equipment and/or system problems. 
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in applying maintenance planning and scheduling techniques and principles in an industrial environment or a wastewater treatment facility. 
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in working with automated information reporting system and database software applications for work orders, inventory, and stores functions.

  • Knowledge and proficient skill with specific Computerized Management Systems (CMMS); e.g. Maximo, Mainsaver.

Supplemental Information

Working Conditions:

  • Remote and Onsite Work Details: Employees in this role work a hybrid 3 days on-site/1 day telework, 4/10 (Mon-Thu/Tue-Fri) or 4 days on-site/1 day telework 5/8 (Mon-Fri) work schedule.  Employees in this role work onsite at South Treatment Plant. Frequency of remote work is determined by business needs and may be adjusted accordingly.  This work arrangement promotes work-life-balance and reduces carbon footprint under the department's vision. 
  • Remote Work Location Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.
  • Work Locations:  South Treatment Plant, 1200 Monster Road S W, Renton, WA 98057
  • Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week, 4-10 work schedule. This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
  • Union Representation: This position is represented by the Teamster, Local 117. Pursuant to Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust $1.00 per hour from the base wage will be submitted to the Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust Fund.
