About this role:
Wells Fargo's COO Control Management team has an opportunity for a Lead Control Management Officer supporting Wholesale Operations and Control. A successful candidate will partner with the business to monitor and assess the operating and control environment on an ongoing basis. A strong desire to learn, high attention to detail, an understanding of risks, and excellent communication skills are key to the success of this role. The person in this role is expected to exemplify a strong bias for execution, exceptional and deliberate planning, and leadership with integrity.
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex initiatives designed to mitigate current and emerging risks with broad impact
- Act as key participant in monitoring, evaluating, and measuring the impact of decisions practiced in Control Management functional area
- Monitor moderately complex business specific programs, and provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk-mitigation strategies
- Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area
- Develop and implement risk monitoring and risk reporting processes and controls
- Collaborate with relevant business group to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations, and provide guidance in developing and implementing risk-mitigating strategies
- Lead Control Management project or virtual teams
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of financial services industry and regulations: control, compliance, risk management, or audit operations.
- Experience working in or closely with Wealth and Investment Management lines of business (or external equivalents) sufficient to demonstrate a working knowledge of their products/services, key processes/systems, and organizational structure.
- Working knowledge of the enterprise Risk Management Framework (RMF) concepts and policies across risk types (regulatory, financial crimes, credit, operational, etc.), including risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance.
- Ability to identify risk factors and ensure enactment of appropriate controls
- Strong risk management and compliance skills.
- Experience working with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment to identify and resolve problems
- Experience with Shared Risk Assessment Platform (SHRP). Including RCSA activities, Issue Management, Risk Measurement and Compliance modules
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and on multiple initiatives concurrently.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills as well as ability to gain an understanding of and evaluate the internal controls of previously unfamiliar areas.
- Facilitation skills, including ability to facilitate decision-making and broker agreements amongst diverse, differing, and/or conflicting perspectives/priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively influence in all levels of management and staff.
- Strong project management and execution skills, including the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously while delivering all commitments on time and with high quality.
- Ethical integrity and demonstrated ability to assess and determine when to raise concerns and escalate
