Responsible for managing the daily activities of the Government Regulatory Affairs department at the state, region, or division level. Assists with local regulatory, franchising and public policy matters for the Charleston market. Implements legislative strategies, monitors legislation and coordinates state association management. Core Responsibilities
- Leads franchise renewal and transfer efforts for assigned franchises consistent with the strategies and policies for the market area at the state, region, or division level.
- Prepares franchise renewal applications and supporting data for renewal negotiations and assists in preparation of renewal strategy.
- Participates in franchise renewal negotiations with municipalities and/or their consultants.
- Supports the government relations and public policy strategy as developed for the market.
- Identifies important municipal issues of significance to the company.
- Drafts, analyzes and/or presents legislation, amendments and testimony as necessary.
- Leads all aspects of franchise-required construction, installation of complimentary cable services to public buildings, including the negotiation of any additional terms and conditions with Local Franchise Authorities (LFA).
- Reviews, interprets and communicates meanings of the terms and conditions of franchises, franchise-related agreements and other contracts for implementation to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Build and deepen relationships with key stakeholders in the Charleston DMA.
- Manages special projects related to Community Affairs and Community Impact and leads all aspects of CA/CI additional duties for the Charleston Market.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Attend Events that align with company priorities, giving Comcast a local market presence.
- Acts as a company liaison to LFAs for information and escalated franchise-related issues.
- Assists in the development of policies and programs to ensure organizational awareness of government legislation and/or regulatory issues that affect the organization and respond to same.
- Ensures the organization's interests are represented and protected in legislative proceedings and in the development of market rules and procedures.
- Prepares and organizes forums and gatherings with government officials to exchange ideas information on business activities and potential legislation that may affect the organization.
- Manages service complaints associated with complimentary services.
