Job Type: Full-Time
Minds in Motion Initiative is a non-profit organization that supports individuals with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) in the Salem area. We are looking to grow our team with a Recreation Therapist who has the vision to empower others to reach their full potential through recreational opportunities. This role requires someone who is outgoing, enthusiastic and is looking to enhance the lives of others who have brain injuries. The Pacific Northwest playground is the perfect place to do so! We're looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
- Certification in Recreational Therapy
- Able to work independently and in teams.
- Experience working with people who have a diagnosis of Acquired Brain Injury preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Creative
Responsibilities
- Assist in the organization and implementation of meaningful programs for the participants, in collaboration with the clients and Director.
- Preparing, carrying out, and evaluating daily activities.
- Build quarterly activity calendars to match resident needs with a variety of activities in collaboration with the Director.
- Participates in team meetings to plan programs with clients.
- Assists with the maintenance of appropriate department records including assessments, evaluations of planned programs.
- Maintains effective communication and good human relations with clients, families, and staff, keeping them informed of current and upcoming events.
- Complete in-service education in order to keep informed of current trends in the total care.
- Assists with assessment of individual activity and ability levels.
- Other duties as assigned.
Hours of Work
- Committed to a regular 60 hour bi-weekly schedule that meets the needs of the people we support. There may be opportunity for additional hours in the future.
- Flexibility of evening and weekend work when required
