Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for Staff Structural Analysis Engineers to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Positions are located onsite in Rancho Bernardo, CA.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
• Performing static, dynamic, and DaDT structural analyses of metallic and composite airframe structure, mechanical systems, and equipment, by hand and by using the automated methods and procedures approved for the program
• Ensuring that designs meet program requirements and are the lightest, lowest cost, and highest quality products consistent with schedule and budget objectives.
• May derive non-flight applied loads, create, extract, and distribute internal loads and perform weight and stiffness optimization utilizing tools such as FEMAP, Catia, Teamcenter and other software applications
• Candidate must be able to collaborate in a team environment, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result, prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplish them simultaneously, and comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.
Basic Qualifications:
• Staff Structural Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 12 years' experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis Or Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 10 years' experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis
• Competency with FEMAP and NASTRAN pre/post processing
• Significant experience with Fatigue/Damage Tolerance (DaDT) analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with the following tools: jFAMS, FASTRAN, DBI/SST, Catia V5, and Knotch
• Experience with the following: Navy fatigue/DaDT methods and report writing, Regression analysis techniques to develop load transfer functions, linear elastic fracture mechanics, Strain-life fatigue analysis methodology
• Ability to obtain an active, in-scope DoD Secret clearance or higher
Salary Range: $171,000 - $256,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
