Communications Director/Executive Editor

Position Overview
The Communications Director/Executive Editor will lead the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies that enhance the organization's brand, engage stakeholders, and ensure the delivery of high-quality content across various platforms. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional writing and editing skills, capable of managing a team and collaborating effectively with other departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communication strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the creation of content for press releases, publications, and digital platforms.
  • Manage and mentor the communications team to foster growth and development.
  • Ensure all content is accurate, consistent, and adheres to the highest editorial standards through copy editing and proof-reading.
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote corporate communications initiatives and campaigns.
  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, providing insights to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media contacts and stakeholders.
  • Lead social media strategy, enhancing the organizations presence and engagement online.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in communications or editorial roles.
  • Proven experience in copy editing and proof-reading.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in corporate communications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Experience in law enforcement or police communications is a plus.
  • Familiarity with social media strategy and analytics is desirable.
