Apex Systems is seekingSenior Aerospace Safety and Mission Assurance Engineers to support work onsite in Long Beach, CA.

Job Description:

  • Identify, analyze, and assess safety and mission risks to establish aerospace system, product, or service safety mitigations and control methods.
  • Conduct system research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns, and quantify their impact.
  • Identify systemic root causes of safety and mission assurance issues and recommend corrective actions using industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements into designs, operations, and procedures.
  • Verify that systems meet defined safety and mission assurance requirements through conducting and supporting tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations.
  • Create and maintain aerospace safety and mission assurance training, tools, and resources.
  • Document safety analysis, hazard mitigation, validation, and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain corrective action plans.
  • Demonstrate safety hazard risk mitigations and control methods to customers and regulators.
  • Ensure mission success through the execution of Mission Assurance activities throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Establish, promote, and enact strategies and initiatives to enhance global aerospace safety.
  • Provide advanced technical consultation on aerospace systems safety projects and programs.
  • Advance innovation in safety techniques and methodologies to enhance system safety.

Skills Required:

  • Technical Expertise:Deep understanding of aerospace engineering principles, safety standards, and mission assurance practices.
  • Risk Management:Proficiency in risk assessment, hazard analysis, and mitigation strategies.
  • Analytical Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and develop effective solutions.
  • Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders and documentation.
  • Project Management:Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Collaboration:Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Attention to Detail:High level of attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Innovation:Ability to innovate and improve safety techniques and methodologies.
  • Leadership:Leadership skills to guide and influence teams and stakeholders in safety and mission assurance activities.
  • Technical Tools:Proficiency with safety analysis tools, simulation software, and other relevant technical tools.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
  • Typically 14+ years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD with9+ years related work experience OR Masters degree with12+ years related work experience).
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
